Fall Tradition's
Hey guys! So as we all know, we are in full blown fall season, and I for one am loving it! The leaves are changing, the temperatures are dropping, and everything pumpkin is available pretty much anywhere! In our family like most, we have a some traditions that have carried over onto us with our kids! Growing up me and Kenz looked forward to this time of year so much, because of these special traditions that I have listed below that we are now getting to share not only still together, but with our kiddies! Hope you are all enjoying this wonderful time of year and truly remember the importance of traditions, and carrying them on. Sometimes it can seem like more work than fun, but just remember it's not for us we already had our moment, it's now for our kids and the memories that they will make are priceless!
- One of our first fall traditions, that I catch myself sometimes even having a hard time waiting for October, is our Mom's Pumpkin Bread! So the bread always remains the same, but whether we frost it with cream cheese frosting, put a streusel on top, or just throw some good old chocolate chips in it just depends on the mood! Below is the recipe, I promise you will not regret it!
- Pumpkin Bread
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 small can pumpkin
- 1/2 cup water
- Mix until smooth, grease pan, Bake 350 degrees, time: 1 hour, makes 2 loafs
- Optional- chocolate chips
- Streusel topping
- 1/3 cup Bisquick
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
- crumble it together, and sprinkle on top of the batter
- Cream Cheese Frosting
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup butter, salted
- 8 0z. cream cheese
- let bread cool than frost
- Another one of our traditions is going to pumpkin patch, and picking out a pumpkin! I look so forward to this every year! This year we went to the cutest place called Gilcrease Farm. We had so much fun! We got to enjoy apple cider donuts, apple cider, and kettle corn! We then all got wheel borrows to put our pumpkins, veggies and fruit in that we pick ourselves from the farm! Such a blast, definitely thinking this is going to be our new pumpkin patch from here one out!
- Lastly, once we have picked out our pumpkins, we take them home and paint them! This is a little different from the normal carving, but we have done it since I can remember! Like I said before we have now passed this on to our kids and they are loving it!
Fall is such an amazing time to keep up with old tradition's and start new ones! Hope you are enjoying this time as much as me!
xoxo,
JayCee
